The Guardian

I never expected to be posting this one here (instead of on apmoviesnot2c.tumblr.com)!  This is because many people I have spoken to have said that this is not a good movie.  However, both my wife and I enjoyed it.  The cinematography is fantastic, acting is good and storyline acceptable.  There are, admittedly, a few “lame” bits with soppy, predictable drama.  But the action parts are all very well presented.

Friends With Money

I don’t think that this movie will be to everyone’s taste!  It’s a look at the lives of four women in their late thirties, early fourties.  It doesn’t really have much of a story, and there certainly is no plot.  But it’s very well made with great acting and very true to life.  There’s quite a bit of comedy and not much tear-inducing stuff.  I enjoyed it very much.

Beerfest

So it’s got some crude humour and some bad acting but I couldn’t help enjoy it.  The storyline is great and most of the jokes are really good.  I especially liked: “If he had the beer recipe, why didn’t he brew it?” - and the jewish guy says: “hebrew?”…

Who Killed The Electric Car?

An eye-opening documentary on the history and demise of the electric car.  It’s obvious that big business runs the world, I just don’t understand why they are so under-handed about it.  The truth is always evasive.

The Departed

Action always seems more enjoyable.  There’s a star-studded cast, good story-line with interesting twists, and plenty of fighting, shooting and swearing.  At times a little drawn out, but holds your interest nonetheless.  Don’t expect a happy ending, this is Martin Scorsese after all.

Alex Rider - Stormbreaker

Action packed & fun filled.  Some weak acting does little to detract from the fun.  Sure, it’s a little far fetched, but if you’re wanting a little escapism then it’s a good choice.  Very well put together with lots of nice effects.

Happy Feet

There’s good reason that it won the Oscar this year for best animated feature film.  I was initially put off by all the “musical” numbers, but they work very well together and there is a definite story-line which works well.  The animation, as can be expected, is top class (quite extraordinary, really).

John Tucker Must Die

Somehow teen romantic comedies are always fun to watch.  This one is well directed with good acting and a nice story-line too.  The ending is not completely unpredictable, but it’s a feel-good movie.  There are also plenty of laughs to keep you entertained.

Match Point

Excellent drama about a guy that gets into a nasty situation with a love triangle gone wrong.  Directed and written by Woody Allen there can be no denying that he knows what he is doing.  The acting is fairly good and the story is great.
