Powerful and moving story about the illicit trade in conflict diamonds and the atrocities in war-torn African nations. Excellent acting especially from DiCaprio & Hounsou. Definitely not for sensitive viewers as the portrayal of the war and the savagery of humanity is true-to-life and very disturbing.

What you have to do is watch Pirates 1 and 2 before seeing this one. Then it becomes a wonderful, swashbuckling action adventure. Filled with colourful characters and witty one-liners, it’s great entertainment.
And, they’ve left the door open for a Pirates 4…

A touching and original story about an ordinary guy who becomes extraordinary by being himself. Rhys Ifans is an excellent actor with great comic timing. It was obviously low budget, but that doesn’t detract from the enjoyment.

This is a documentary about the impact of global warming. It is primarily a presentation of Al Gore’s work. He narrates the documentary too. It is eye-opening, to say the least! A tremendous amount of research has gone into this, and it is hard to believe that there are still those that discount the disastrous effects.
Al Gore is an excellent public speaker and he not only informs, but he also entertains.

Delightful family comedy/drama focussing on a somewhat disfunctional family learning to cope with each others’ differences. Good acting especially from the 10 year old Abigail Breslin, and, of course, Steve Carell. Also quite thought-provoking, raising issues concerning the child beauty pageant industry in the states.

Looking at the cover, you’d be amazed that this is actually a good movie! Don’t watch it if you are sensitive to strong language and sexual references. But it’s very funny, well acted & directed. Also has one of those feel good, underdog, sporting hero story-lines. Maybe one for the guys, rather than the ladies.

Animated and touching. A very pleasant family movie, i.e. I could watch it with my children, and we all enjoyed it. The animation is not up to the standards of recent big releases (like Happy Feet), but it’s got great comedy and heart-warming emotion too.
